Dr Amarendra Sahoo Amarendra Sahoo is Vice President with CGP based out of Pune in India. Dr. Amarendra Sahoo had been a senior central banker having served 31 years in Reserve Bank of India (RBI), last as Chief General Manager and Regional Director. He has impeccable track record of designing and implementing complex projects and had led investment appraisal at the RBI’s premier Bankers Training College, Mumbai as Vice Principal. He was the Dean Academics and Professor Finance at Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad before taking over as Secretary General of the, Apparel Export Promotion Council, Gurgaon. Presently, he teaches investment banking at International School of Business & Media, Pune. Dr. Sahoo is a leading expert on bank regulation and supervision having consulted with World Bank, Washington D.C. and being a part of the World Bank’s Supervision Mission in India. He had extensive exposure in on-site and off-site supervision of the global banks and interacted with the monetary authorities of Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Korea. He was nominee Director on Boards of State Bank of Patiala, Sikkim Bank Ltd., Gramin Banks and West Bengal Finance Corporation. Dr Sahoo, as the Member Secretary of Financial Sector Plan for the North East India, charted out the roadmap for the financial infrastructure of the region. As the head of RBI and chairman of the Empowered Committee for SME financing in different regions, he had done extensive team work and multi-stakeholders consultations and research in development finance. Dr Sahoo represented India in the High Level “Learning” Mission to Thailand, Korea to study Corporate and Financial restructuring in the aftermath of the East Asian crisis and helped formulating the stressed asset resolution framework in India. He also participated in the Asia and Pacific Regional Agriculture Credit Association at Malaysia, Philippines. Dr. Sahoo holds Ph. D. in Economics from IIT, Bombay, Masters from JNU, New Delhi and Duke University, USA. His masters project at Duke was Corporate governance in banking sector. He was participant in the leadership and corporate excellence program at Kellogg School of Management. International collaboration, interactions and networking with the industry, innovative pedagogy are his USP. His publications included articles on Corporate and Financial Sector in the two books edited, World Bank project mimeo, RBI publication and conference papers. He has practical experience of accreditation by international bodies, collaboration with Case Western University, USA and Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM), France, student and faculty exchange with Elon University, USA, ISS Germany and Copenhagen B School while at IMT as Dean He is Academic Council Member of Lucknow University. |
